What You Need:
Size Small (head size 21” or less): 100 yards worsted weight
Size Medium/Large (head size 22”): 140 yards worsted weight
(Gauge 14 stitches = 4”)
One pair of #10 1/2 16” Circular needles
Or size needed to obtain gauge
Scissors
Tape measure
Ring Marker
Tapestry needle

Gauge:
14 stitches = 4 inches on size 10 ½ 16” needles 3.5 stitches per inch

Instructions:
Cast on 72 (78) stitches place ring marker and join (be careful not to twist your cast on when you begin knitting).
YOU ARE WORKING IN THE ROUND (like making a tube) SO YOUR RING IS THE END OF A “ROW”.

Rounds 1-3: *K2, P2 repeat from * to end of round.

Round 4: *K2, P2, repeat from * to last 4 stitches. End with K2, P1. Move marker 1 stitch to the right and re-center round.

Repeat rounds 1-4 until hat measures 6 inches ending with round 2 and begin decreases:

Round 3: *K2, P2together, K2,P2. Repeat from * to end of round.

Round 4: * K2, P1, K2, P2, repeat from * to last 4 stitches. End with K2, P1, move marker one stitch to the right to re-center round.

Round 5: *K2, P1, K2, P2together, repeat from * around.

Round 6:  *K2, P1, repeat from * around.

Round 7: *K2, P1, K2together, P1 repeat from * around.

Round 8: *K2, P1, K1, P1, repeat from * to last 3 stitches. End with P1, K1, move marker one stitch to the right.

Round 9: *K2together, P1, K1, P1 repeat from * to end of round.

Round 10: *K1, P1 repeat from * to end of round.

Round 11: *K2together, P2together, repeat from * to end of round

Round 12: *K1, P1 repeat from * to end of round

Round 13: *K2together, p2together, repeat from * to end of round

Finishing:
Cut a 5” tail and thread through remaining stitches. Pull tight. Weave in ends.
